This is fantastic new really good off reason so far.

I'll be pumped with anything under 6 years and under $5.5m per year. This was a necessity given how solid and underrated he is.

I love how we don't even get the length of the contract.

I like that Greene won't be leaving for the wings in a year bit I hope this contract isn't stupid

Most important player on the team besides Schneider. Others come very close, but this guy IS the defense for the next few years while the kids transition and learn. Character, talent, speed and skill. Amazing news.

Him hitting free agency would be a nightmare.

Yes there can. If they signed him to an 8 year deal with a $6 million cap hit, I would consider that stupid. He's a very good player, but he's 31, he's not super productive, and he's on the smaller side.

Apparently the deal came together pretty quickly, so I'm hoping that means it'll be a reasonable contract, both term-wise and cap hit.

he's not super productive? He's a defenseman, our best and most responsible defenseman in every zone of the ice, that's a young 31. I wouldn't cry if he had a 6mil cap hit that took him to 39. Obviously we don't want that, but the guy doesn't play an overly physical game that will wear on him. He's smart, well positioned, good hands and legs and hockey sense. His value to this team and defense soon filled with kids, can not be overlooked.

Apparently Greene just got married that's why this didn't happen earlier but I also hope it doesn't mean Lou gave him extra dollars as a wedding present anything under five would be dreaming I wouldn't want anything over 6 for him I don't care what you can say about him he should get 5-6 no more no less
